Jersey Boys 2nd Bash Update!

bash-jersey-day2.jpgOur friends the Jersey Boys are having a blast and sending pictures as many of you have from this years Bash Event - KEEP THEM COMING…..Here is a recent update from Jimmy and Mike.

“Morning Rick,

No new NAV system - there is a new disk available which can be ordered for older cars, but the same hardware for 2010.” CONTINUE FOR MORE…..

Yesterday was a very exciting day for us…..we started the morning at the 2010 seminar. Instead of sending you the pictures we took of all the slides…you can find them on the museum website. There were 2 main items that really got the attendion of the people…..the introduction of the Grand Sport and the Launch option.

The Grand Sport - there were no prices announced but what this is - a coupe or convt. with wide body, bigger spoiler, and some fancy stitching on the seats and armrest. All of the colors are available - including the new red (see the slide presentation for the exact name and a look at the color chart). This car is COOL !!! All the current options are available. I have plenty of pictures of the cars.

The Launch control option is a pisser - when it’s engaged, you push the accelator pedal all the way to the floor - the computer will find the right RPM - usually around 4K and then you pop the clutch…and off the car goes…no bogging down or stalls…the car does everything. Only available on manuals of course.

After the introductions and a walk around the cars….we were off to the plant for a tour. A couple of things hit us right away. The assembly line moved extremely slow….they only producted about 79 cars yesterday which is about half of the normal production. The people working the line had a lot of time on their hands as the cars very slowly moved from station to station. The other thing that hit us was the amount of spare parts inventoried around the floor. We were also surprised to see that the Cadillac XLR was still being manufactured. We were told they are running until the end of this month and then it’s over for that car….that assembly line did NOT move at all….the workers walked from one car to the other and there were only a handful of cars on that ‘line’.

Later in the day we attended the clinic - Mike was hearing a noise when he shifted and we got Tadge J. to take a ride in Mike’s car to determine what was causing the noise….turned out it was just the way the tranny gears meshed when taking hard turns and coming out of them under full speed. Nothing to worry about.

We had dinner with folks we have known for many years from all over the country….corvette people are the best!
