ZR1 Halt Article Follow-up
WHOOOA, NOT CANCELLED, CAREFUL GUYS… 
Wow, what in the hell did I wake up to today. Emails and phone calls off the hook, several different websites already taking what we said and running in the wrong direction…running right into a wall in fact. Please allow me to make a couple comments regardings posts across the web from our ZR1 ON HALT ARTICLE last night.
As you may know, we are a big sponsor of Digitalcorvettes.com and they linked my story and this morning I am dealing with damage control..so let’s continue
This is like having a bunch of 4th graders sitting in a circle and little Johnny says something to the person on the left and Sally is told to pass it on…by the time it reaches back to Johnny on his right, the original message is not even close to what he said. So today, I am not CorvetteConti, I am little Johnny. The info we got last night, again that has been brewing for a while was “ZR1 production is on hold indefinitely”. For the people saying out there that ZR1 is cancelled is not fair to say at this point at all.
Sure, many websites are quoting GM officials that were called in the middle of the night because of our article and they said “NOT TRUE”, but they were addressing the rumor that ZR1 was cancelled and again, that is not what we said. Now, will they resume production with what pieces parts they have? We hope so….but none of our contacts could tell us what the future of ZR1 is; and we were only asking about the next 6 months. This would be a typical positive response from GM….our concern is the HUGE delay and on hold until further notice.
Some folks have even went on to post that GM is doubling ZR1 production to catch up next week because of the long delay already( and we respect the individual that posted that remark) …OK, how are they going to do that when the Plant realignment will only be putting out 50-60 total cars a day , NOT 150 as it has in the past.
To the other guy that made a comment that I was posting this just to get more money for our ZR1’s….give me a break, nobody is more passionate about this car than me, I have been involved in promoting this car for years and years, only to find out we would not be able to obtain what we needed for our interested customers…no Corvette dealers did. To to make that comment without knowing what you’re talking about sir…kiss my ass comes to mind and I apologize for my outburst, this market is near and dear to me and I would NOT mislead or play around with you folks like that. For nearly 14 years you have come to trust us and I could never jeopardize that with just some article to get a rise out of people. My web presence and now along with Greg’s is to promote the market as it is, offer you solid info, fun enthusiastic idea’s, great values and be a part of your Corvette lifestyle all we can, any way we can.
Greg said it to me this morning; we just want GM to make good decisions to assure a future for Corvette. We care about you as a customer and this car as an enthusiast. I mean look at my buddy Greg, how weird is this, that he wore this shirt yesterday, as you see, he was at the reveal for the NCM on ZR1, I was at the press days, you bet we care….
UPDATE!
I would not risk my reputation or the dealerships to post something for web hits. Something is going on with the car and what I did find out today regarding the reason for the delay, I cannot post. The ZR1 is NOT being cut, just slowed…a lot!
After yesterday’s news, NOW look at my buddy….
Because of all this internet chatter GM very well may alter their initial decision, but we sat on this story for a week before confirming yesterday with a trusted authority and would never steer you folks wrong. We may not even get a ZR1 now..you saw the picture at the beginning of this article, it is no joke and we only hope to report better news in the coming days and as I have said to many of you leading up to ZR1, because of the limited supply, the controlled production, marketing and distribution, we at EVS are worrying about the masses of cars we can control and provide for you in a great supply, even with the plant cut back; Coupe, Convertible and Z06. Glad you got that story straighten out Rick (and company)..Not sure why there would be this constant confusion surrounding such an important vehicle in G.M. arsenal..
That said it doesn’t hurt that some of the initial ZR1’s went to the ‘NASCAR’ boys_who can give expert feedback on this car’s performance and handling etc..Great for any improvements or current/future changes this car may require..
