We get it straight from the best, Patrick Gramm of Digitalcorvettes.

Patrick, I have always had respect for your disrespect of tires…..other words, kick ass burn outs galore, what are keys to a successful burn out?

AND NOW, his Smokin’ Comments; VIDEO LINK JUST ADDED TOO!

“Rick, It’s a secret! But… I guess I can give you an exclusive.

“First, I didn’t use a line lock, just a bone stock 6-speed car and my skillz.

Turn off traction control, dump the clutch at 5000 RPM and the tires will spin like they are on ice, the car won’t go anywhere for a few seconds… so quickly move your left foot to the brake pedal and press about 2/3rds down while you hold the car at 5000 rpm. Don’t dilly dally around. c6-corvette-burnout-3.jpgMove your foot over quick if you want to keep the car in place. All 4 brakes are on when I am doing the C6 burnout. But, the torque from the rear tires spinning is overriding the rear brakes ability to stop it. So, it stays in place.

I’m sure the rear rotors were gettin’ pretty toasty… if not starting to glow orange, oh well. Increase the RPM’s to just under the rev limiter… near 7000 RPM … while still holding the brake pedal down 2/3rds. c6-corvette-burnout-6.jpgThat ensures maximum tire boiling and rubber chucking distance (smoke is cool but you want to chuck rubber down the street as well). If you go down to the steel belts in the tire, you’ll actually start chewing into the road surface and making indentations. That’s cool too.

You can destroy a perfect set of rear street tires in about 60 seconds, or a worn set in about 40 seconds or less. c6-corvette-burnout-10.jpg And, as always, use caution where you do your stunt driving so you don’t injure anyone, or yourself, or hit anything if the car starts behaving badly or if the cabin fills with smoke and you can’t see… which happens quite a bit.

Lastly, the inside of your Corvette will smell like burning tire rubber for no less than 6 months. Or, in my case, year round.”
