GM STRIKE - Agreement Reached!

gm-strike.bmp WHEW is the first word that comes to mind, before I share the link with you from CNN, a couple quick comments if I may…well come on, when have you known me NOT to ramble on….

But first from the Corvette assembly plant…

TOURS ARE AVAILABLE AGAIN!

NEW GM COMMENTS ADDED AT BOTTOM OF ARTICLE

I along with many of you was very concerned over this recent strike. It’s hard when you try hard to do your job and then all of sudden you feel as if you can’t, you have have such a passion and responsibility to the people you are servicing, I felt alittle lost, but never lost focus. After fielding as many calls and emails as I could, you know I have had the “business as usual” mindset, taking even more orders the last two days remaining confident all the while this would end, just glad it’s sooner and not later.

I too shared in the frustration of not only our EVS family members , but Corvette fans everywhere not being able to schedule or take delivery of their scheduled museum delivery Corvette, not knowing where or even when their new Corvette would show up. I do want to thank so many of our clients, that had the confience to continue to do business and order knowing, one day their car would arrive. Also a HUGE THANKS to the folks that did not hit the panic button and cancel their orders after waiting so long to get to that point to begin with. I appreciate your understanding and the display of class you all showed the situtaion, me and this company during the unknown period. Some of you have cars in transist that are paid for and I can only imagine how you felt, but again, pure class..YEP I LOVE MY JOB, thanks everyone.

You know when the strike came down, so you have a little more confidence in the folks building your cars, this was not a huge organized event, many of the people on the line did not even know they were walking off, no sir, they were working hard, working with pride when some of them were tapped on the shoulder..”Hey, shut ‘er down, they are going on strike!”

As of writing this quick article, they are hoping to have workers back on the line by 2nd shift. Stay tuned for updates on your existing orders as we see how this delay has effected build weeks, etc….and YES, our order bank continues to fill up. Looking for an awesome deal? Want to NOT spend 4 hours getting it? Want to order what you prefer? Then order from us here at EVS, we have the allocation, VERY fleixble pricing and you will get your car…a car worth waiting for and a price that is more than fair.

GM COMMENTS;

“GM Dealers,
Subject: Update on UAW Negotiations

Earlier today, General Motors and the UAW have reached a tentative agreement on a new national labor contract, covering approximately 74,000 represented employees.

The agreement, subject to member ratification, paves the way for GM to significantly improve its manufacturing competitiveness, providing the basis for maintaining and strengthening its core manufacturing base in the United States.

The tentative agreement includes a memorandum of understanding to establish an independent retiree health care trust, as well as other changes to the national agreement. Following ratification, implementation of the memorandum of understanding is subject to approval by the courts, and satisfactory review of accounting treatment with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Rick Wagoner sent a message indicating how this agreement will help us close the fundamental competitive gaps that exist in our business. The projected competitive improvements in this agreement will allow us to maintain a strong manufacturing presence in the United States along with significant future investments.

The GM negotiating team members and support staff and the UAW bargaining team are to be commended for their dedicated work on this new agreement.

I want to personally thank each of you for your continued focus on our customers and for promoting our full lineup of great cars and trucks, including your efforts on the current retail event, which runs through October 1.

Importantly, to address any concerns regarding delivery of parts to your dealerships an additional communications from Doug Herberger, Vice President — Service and Parts Operations, will be forwarded to you later today via GM Messenger on DealerWorld.
