I had always wondered where that car was. #427 out of the 427 made for the U.S. This was a special edition and in my opinion the nicest one yet by GM as a Z06 editon.
It really was named the Cooksey edition in the Corvette Community, as it was for Wil Cooksey now retired plant manager’s last hoorah. Amazing and sweet he was able to pull ahead the 2009 wheel, the interior and more on this car…he was the plant manager.
Now we are mentioning this car and thumbs up to GM for auctioning the car off for the Red Cross and their efforts for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
This car raised $200,000 for the cause, nice job! Someone got a very special car and money well spent given the circumstances. The closest #’d car we had here at EVS was #423. ALL proceeds went to the Red Cross!
Just realized something as I was preparing our 2010 Z06 for delivery this morning, and shocked I did not catch it earlier.
Usually when you get a cashmere interior, you get cashmere carpeting up front and matching mats.
This year, we were happy to be first on the net with not only the data of Cashmere being available in the 2010 Z06 we had the first photos too.
Here is what I realized and I love it, nice job GM - the Cashmere interior on the 2010 Z06 comes with BLACK (ebony) floor mats. What a great tie into the interior, it flows very nice and shows less wear on the floor mats!!!
Once again just sharing and keeping you folks informed hoping one day we are dealing with and talking about your moment, thanks for joining us today. Continue for a larger pic of the interior featuring the ebony mat with Cashmere interior

It was fifty-seven years this week that thousands of Americans gathered at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City to catch a glimpse of Chevrolet’s new two-seater sports car.

The EX-122 concept was such an instant hit with the public that GM rushed into production the revolutionary fiberglass-bodied car. Six months later, the first Corvette was completed at a makeshift assembly plant in Flint, Michigan. Just 300 Corvettes were produced in 1953 with a sticker price of about $3,500.
As all Corvette fans know, those ’53’s were all white with red interior!

Our friends at Jalopnik and CorvetteBlogger report this latest story - How cool and crazy would this be?!
A GM official told Jalopnik that they were considering letting Corvette ZR1 buyers build their own LS9 638 horsepower engine that would then be installed in their very car. This was confirmed by Tom Read from GM’s Advanced Powertrain Technology Communications who said “We are considering the program”.
